ART DIRECTOR
The Art Director is an important position if the script
relies heavily on such skills, as in the case of a science fiction
movie or a period piece and generally in an art film. I recommend
hiring an Art Director if the budget is over $150,000.
The Art Director can make sure that the colors in a film are
in harmony with the theme, the story and possibly the genre. The
costumes, the background, the locations and the mood of every scene
come under independent consideration. Even such things as the uses of
fog or type of lights and filtration need to be discussed with someone
who has sole expertise in such areas.
The Art Director then collaborates with every department on
a film production, from the director to the prop person.
